A FREE Studio Tour at Cockpit Arts - With Meron Wolde & Laura Woodhouse for The Arts Society

Meet metal artist and bespoke jewellery maker Meron Wolde along with award winning contemporary weaver Laura Woodhouse at Cockpit Art Studios on 4th April 2019.

Gain a fascinating insight into their studio practice and discuss what inspires them, their techniques and why sustainable and ethical materials are so important to them. You will also discover how grants from The Arts Society and Greater London Area have supported their flourishing careers.

This relaxed evening includes a complimentary drink, tour and Q & A session. There will also be an opportunity to see their latest creations and purchase a range of products.

Tuesday 1st October 2019--Philip Venning--Old Buildings, Fakes and Fallacies 

You are very welcome to join us at The Grey Coat Hospital School, Greycoat Place, London SW1P 2DY for a fee of £10 (payable by cash or cheque on the door).  Doors  open at 6.00pm, with the lecture set to start at 6.55pm.  There will be time to mingle, meet our committee and old and new friends until 8.30pm. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grants News

We are delighted to support many young people through the award of grants from the Area

This year we have supported the following

---Cockpit Arts.To support a studio for a year to a textile weaver....Laura about her in the Autumn 2018 Review.

---Royal Academy of Music...bursaries for young composers, one of whom had his work performed at the Golden Jubilee concert on 24th November.

---the Koestler Trust to support  the teaching of artwork amongst young offenders

---Royal School of Needlework.... bursaries and prizes for students, working in the most wonderful textiles.

-- and many grants to local groups of the Arts Society supporting Young Arts projects
