GLA SPECIAL CONCERT FOR THE GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

 

The performers will play and sing a wide variety of music, for example, pieces from Handel’s Rinaldo, Flute Quartet by JC Bach, ‘Spring Song’ from Songs Without Words by F Mendelssohn, pieces from Gilbert and Sullivan operas,

J Ireland’s London Pieces for Piano and London Pride by Noel Coward 

Refreshments will be served in the interval and at the end of the concert when there will be an opportunity to meet the performers and composer.

New Society in Victoria!!

We are delighted to tell you that our new Society is now open for membership

As a member you will be able to enjoy our exciting lecture programme, which will consist of ten evening lectures a year running from November to October (lectures will not be held in January or August of each year).  We meet on the first Tuesday of the month, with the exception of June when we meet on the second Tuesday, at The Grey Coat Hospital School, Greycoat Place, London SW1P 2DY.  The lectures will commence at 7pm and doors will be open from 6.30pm with wine and soft drinks available before and after each lecture.

Membership fees for 2018/2019 are: single membership = £60; joint membership = £100, payable by either internet bank transfer or cheque (payment details can be found on the membership form). The membership fee for single and joint members includes a one off joining fee of £10.

 

Lots of new study days

They have been devised by our team of Study Course Organisers together with the Arts Society accredited lecturers, and explore a wide range of artistic styles, lavish venues, exciting crafts, beautiful cities, fascinating artists.

2018 is the Arts Society's 50th or Golden Anniversary and so of course we have thought up some Golden themes in the programme, taking us from the Middle Ages to the modern architect, Zaha Hadid.

2019 will soon be upon us......have a look at the new entries....book soon ...so toy have something to look forward to during the Winter and Spring!!!

Grants News

We are delighted to support many young people through the award of grants from the Area

This year we have supported the following

---Cockpit Arts.To support a studio for a year to a textile weaver....Laura Woodhouse...read about her in the Autumn 2018 Review.

---Royal Academy of Music...bursaries for young composers, one of whom will have his work performed at the Golden Jubilee concert on 24th November...read more on the flyer above..

---the Koestler Trust to support  the teaching of artwork amongst young offenders.... their exhibition is on at the Royal Festival Hall...two of the Greater Londo Area awardees are on display
